How to choose plastic pallets correctly?

Selection of specifications and dimensions:

1. When choosing plastic pallets, the specifications selected vary depending on the required projects.

2. First consider the packaging specifications of the goods and how they are placed on the plastic pallet. For example: the European standard turnover box size is 600x400mm, 5 are placed on a 1200x1000mm pallet, 4 are placed on a 1200x800mm pallet, and generally 5 layers are stacked.

3. Consider the situation of pallet loading tools (such as containers, trucks, etc.). For example: if it is a round-trip turnover or one-time use, it is necessary to give priority to the integration of the shipping container width of 2300mm. For a 1200x1000mm pallet, a combination of 1200mm long and 1000mm wide should be used. 4-way fork entry must be used. For a 1200x800mm pallet, two groups of 800mm width should be placed side by side. Facing a 1100x1100mm pallet, use a width of 1100mm, place 2 rows, and either 2-way fork entry or 4-way fork entry is acceptable.

4. If used on warehouse shelves, the width and depth of the shelves should be considered. The size of the plastic pallet should also be considered for versatility. The commonly used sizes in China are 1210 international standard, 1208 European standard and T11 Japanese standard pallets. Two pallets are placed on each shelf of the access shelf, and about 200mm of storage and access space is reserved. Try to give it a large size in the depth direction, so as not to impose strict requirements on the load of the plastic pallet, thus saving procurement costs.

5. If used on automated warehouse shelves, in addition to meeting the above requirements, factors such as the anti-slip coefficient of the pallet, the coordination between the bottom of the pallet and the chain conveyor, the fork height, the load capacity of the upper shelf, the permanent deformation, the deflection of the long and short sides, the location of the barcode, and the placement of the RFID chip should also be considered.

6. The size of the plastic pallet should also be considered for versatility. At present, the commonly used sizes in China are 1210 international standard, 1208 European standard and T11 Japanese standard pallets.

Single-sided and double-sided options:

1. Single-sided plastic pallets can only be used on one side. The surface has two types: grid and flat. The bottom has a Sichuan-shaped, Tian-shaped or nine-square foot-shaped. According to the load capacity and the occasion of use, it is divided into three standards: shelf series, standard series and ultra-light series.

2. Double-sided plastic pallets refer to pallets with the same structure on both sides. The surface has two types: grid and flat. Both sides can be used interchangeably. According to the load capacity and the occasion of use, it is divided into two standards: shelf series and standard series.

3. Whether to choose a single-sided pallet or a double-sided pallet should be determined according to the corresponding storage, loading and unloading equipment and status (such as warehouse type, shelf type, stacking or placement status, etc.).

4. For automatic stereoscopic warehouses or high-level shelves with a small footprint, where vertical handling is mainly carried out by stackers or electric forklifts, both single-sided shelf series pallets and double-sided shelf series pallets can be selected.

5. If the load on the three-dimensional warehouse or shelf reaches 1T, and the shelf is not laid, it is recommended to use a shelf pallet with built-in steel pipes. The steel-plastic structure pallet with built-in steel pipes effectively solves the old problem that the heavier the load on the shelf, the heavier the product weight and the higher the cost. More importantly, by using the rigidity of the square steel pipe with a wall thickness of about 2mm, the strict requirement of lateral and longitudinal deflection of the upper shelf (three-dimensional warehouse) is achieved, which is ≤10mm, while reducing permanent deformation and reducing costs.

6. For occasions with large floor space and mainly horizontal transportation, if a manual hydraulic pallet truck is used for transportation, a single-sided pallet is suitable. If goods need to be stacked, it is better to use a double-sided pallet or a single-sided pallet with a field bottom so that the bottom of the pallet overlaps with the top of the goods below. If a self-propelled motorized pallet truck is used for transportation, a nine-foot single-sided pallet without a connecting strip at the bottom is suitable.

Carrying requirements:

1. Dynamic load refers to the maximum weight that can be lifted at one time using an electric forklift or manual hydraulic pallet truck. General shelf pallets can bear 1.5T-2T, standard pallets can bear 1T, and ultra-light pallets have a dynamic load of 0.5T.

2. Static load refers to the maximum weight that the bottom plastic pallet can bear in the stack. General shelf pallets can bear 6T-8T, standard pallets can bear 4T, and ultra-light pallets have a static load of 1T.

3. Shelf load refers to the maximum weight allowed when placing goods packaged in plastic pallets on the shelves. Be sure to pay attention to the differences between dynamic load, static load, shelf load and vertical warehouse load. The difference in load capacity is closely related to the shelf structure, ambient temperature and storage cycle. Generally, heavy-duty pallets can bear 0.7T-1T on beam shelves, and standard pallets can bear 0.4T-0.6T.

Shelf load has certain requirements for the permanent deformation and deflection of plastic pallets. The national standard for deflection is a maximum of 30mm, but this is too wide. We recommend using plastic pallets with a deflection of no more than 20mm on the shelves. If it is an automatic three-dimensional warehouse, the requirements for curvature are stricter, generally within 10mm.
